Lady Eagle Cross Country Team Finishes Eighth


Goodson finishes in the top 20

PALOS HILLS, Ill. – The Southern Miss women’s cross country team placd-eighth on Saturday morning at the 10th annual Conference USA Championships at the Palos Hills Forest Preserve.

 

Cassandra Goodson was the top finisher, finishing 18th overall with a time of 22:28 in the 6K run.  Dijana Kojic was 31st with a time of 23:29, Becca Rop was 35th with a time of 23:32, Karen Tankersley was 52nd with a time of 24:15, Alisha Edwards was 50th with a time of 24:20.  Rounding out the Lady Eagles’ finishers was Rachel Nix with a time of 24:43 and Naomi Kiprotich with a time of 25:09.

 

Marquette’s team placed first in the team standings with 66 points,  followed by TCU in second place with 99 points, UAB was third (101), USF fourth (125), DePaul fifth (137), Cincinnati sixth (152), Charlotte seventh (161), Southern Miss eighth (191), East Carolina ninth (234), Houston 10th (238), Memphis 11th (270), Tulane 12th (274), Saint Louis 13th (381) and Louisville 14th (400).

 

TCU’s Mary Kinyanjui was the individual winner, posting a time of 21:16.

 

Southern Miss wraps up its cross country season at the South Region Championships in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Nov. 13.
