Lady Eagle Cross Country Team Finishes Third at MSU Invitational

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Southern Miss women’s cross country team competed in their final tune-up meet before heading to the Conference USA Championship next week, finishing third in the 4K race at the 2003 MSU Invitational, Saturday.

 

In the first of two women’s races, Cassandra Goodson finished sixth overall, recording a time of 14:34.60.  Keri White finished 11th with a time of 15:20.30, Karen Tankersley was 12th with a time of 15:22.30, and Tomeka Shaffer was 19th with a time of 16:25.90.  Auburn won the team championship with 18 points, followed by Mississippi State with 21.  MSU’s Tiffany McWilliams was the top individual winner, posting a time of 13:18.90.

 

In the 3K race, Lydiah Chepkwony was the top finisher for Southern Miss, posting a time of 10:30.00 for a seventh-place finish overall.  Alisha Edwards was 13th with a time of 11:13.30 and Liz Palmer finished 18th with a time of 13:37.40.

 

Southern Miss will compete in the Conference USA Cross Country Championship, Nov. 1, in Tampa, Fla.
