Southern Miss Cross Country Team Finishes Third at the Rhodes College Invitational


Naomi Kiprotich knocks nine seconds off her time

, Tenn. – The Southern Miss women's cross country team finished third out of 22 teams at the Rhodes College Invitational on Saturday at Plough Park in Memphis.

 

Senior Naomi Kiprotich was the top finisher for the Golden Eagles, finishing fourth overall with a time of 18:03.00 over the 5k course.  Dijana Kojic finished 12th with a time of 18:56.00 followed by Brittany Wood (16) with a time of 19:13.00, Ronna Sandoval (24) with a time of 19:36.00, Lila Balamane (39) with a time of 20:02.00, Alisha Edwards (40) with a time of 20:05.00 and Karen Tankersley (60) with a time of 20:51.00.

 

Harding won the team championship, placing three runners in the top 10, with 56 points followed by Alabama-Huntsville with 94 points and just edging out Southern Miss with 95.  Memphis was fourth with 124 points followed by Central Arkansas with 172, Vanderbilt 195, Jacksonville State 220, Southern Arkansas 251, Rhodes 262, Hendrix 295, Delta State 345, Austin Peay 358, Ouachita Baptist 394, Arkansas Tech 400, Union 430, Sewanee 452, Greenville 456, Bevill State CC 502, Belhaven 590, Christian Brothers 594 and Arkansas-Pine Bluff 597.

 

Southern Miss travels to Auburn, Ala., for the Auburn Invitational, Oct. 8.
