Southern Miss Lady Eagles Finish Sixth in 15th Annual Crimson Classic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Southern Miss Lady Eagle cross country team finished sixth at the 15th Annual Crimson Classic Invitationa, Friday, afternoon, at the Harry Pritchard Golf Course.

Auburn women's team captured the team title with 15 points with its first five runners crossing the finish line first. Alabama was second with 75 points, followed by Ole Miss (120), Birmingham Southern (126), Troy State (129), Southern Miss (143), UAB (158), Arkansas State (226), North Alabama (242), Mississippi College (304), Alabama A&M (308), Alabama State (316), and Bevill State C.C. (361).

Senior Jessica Crump continued to pace the Lady Eagles, covering the 5K course in a time of 19:26.26 and knocking off 30 seconds from her time last weekend, while finishing ninth overall out of 106 runners. Junior Keri White finished 13th with a time of 19:37.23, and Tomeka Shaffer finished 30th with a time of 21:08.99. Rounding out the Golden Eagle runners were Alisha Edward, (40) with a time of 21:55.66, Lydiah Chepkwony (54) with a time of 22:57.51, Margarita Rivera (59) with a time of 23:11.72, and Erica Scharfenstein (67) with a time of 24:04.46.

Southern Miss travels to Jackson, Miss., Sept. 28, for the Jackson State Invitational.
