C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medals Awarded; 19 Southern Miss Student-Athletes Honored
A total of 334 student-athletes, including 19 from the University of Southern Mississippi, have earned the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal during the 2007-08 academic year, Commissioner Britton Banowsky announced. The medals are given to those C-USA student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better.

Southern Miss Cross Country Team Finishes 12th
The nationally-ranked Rice women entered the championship as the only C-USA team ranked among the USTFCCA top 30. The Owls took six of the top 15 spots, including three on the first team.

Men's and Women's Athletics Recognized at Halbrook Award Banquet
The University of Southern Mississippi Department of Athletics recently was recognized with a Halbrook Award for both its men's and women's programs for outstanding academic achievement and graduation rates for student-athletes during the 2006-07 academic year.
