Cross Country Team Finishes Fifth at the Watson Quality Ford Invitational
Oct. 15, 2006 CLINTON, Miss. -- - The women's cross country team finished fifth with 144 points at the Watson Quality Ford Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Mississippi College. The team finished behind Tulane (27 points), Southeastern Louisiana (80 points), Grambling State (95 points) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (127 points). Southern Miss placed two runners in the top 10 led by Jemarie Alcordo, who finished seventh overall and covered the 6K course in a time of 23:50.49. Ronna Sandoval finished 10th with a time of 24:07.69. Rounding out the Golden Eagle runners were Brittany Wood (19th) with a time of 25:10.12, Stepanie Jones-Dubose (35th) with a time of 26:03.05, Cheris Fletcher was 73rd with a time of 30:11.06 and Kenika Weaver (77th) with a time of 31:16.02. Southern Miss returns to action on Oct. 28 when the Golden Eagles compete in the Conference USA Cross Country Championship in Greenville, N.C.
