HOOVER, Ala. - Southern Miss women's cross country team placed sixth at the Annual Great American Cross Country Festival in Hoover, Ala., over the weekend.

USM's Zuna Portillo was the top finisher for the Golden Eagles covering the 5K course with a time of 20:30.6.

Terria Wheeler ran a season-best time of 22:54.3, finishing 29th. Rounding out the finishers included Faith Ngobiro (34th) with a time of 23:43.9, Cheris Fletcher (35) with a time of 23:55.9, Jolisa Evans (41) with a time of 25:04.3 and Ke'Aura Lawson (43) with a time of 25:44.2.

Southern Miss will compete in the Mississippi College Invitational, Oct. 18, before heading to the Conference USA Cross Country Championship, Nov. 1, in Memphis, Tenn.
