Southern Miss Cross Country Team Finishes 11th At Crimson Tide Classic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- -

The Southern Miss women's cross country team finished 11th out of 17 teams at the 18th Crimson Tide Classic.

Junior Brittany Wood was the top finisher, posting a time of 20:00.72 over the 5k course and finishing 27th. Sophomore Ronna Sandoval finished 42nd with a time of 20:27.37. Rounding out the Southern Miss runners were Jemarie Alcordo (56) with a time of 21:01.56, Kaitlin Daugherty (85) with a time of 22:39.82 and Stephanie Jones-DuBose (89) with a time of 22:51.63.

Mississippi State won the team title with 33 points followed by Emory with 73, Alabama with 106, Kennesaw with 133 and Alabama-Huntsville 136, rounding out the top five.

Alabama's Julie Hicks was the top finisher, covering the course in a time of 17:24.27, 45 seconds faster than the next finisher.

Southern Miss will take the next two weeks off before competing in the Mississippi College Invitational, Oct. 13
