Southern Miss Cross Country Team Finishes Second At the Tulane Invitational

NEW ORLEANS -- - Southern Miss women's cross country coach, Cassandra Goodson, made her coaching debut with her team competing in the Tulane Cross Country Invitational and finishing in a tie for second with 48 points. Southeastern Louisiana finished first with 33 points.

Southern Miss placed three runners in the top 10, led by sophomore Ronna Sandoval (Picayune, Miss.) who finished fourth with a time of 20:42.94 in the 5K. Brittany Wood (Pelham, Ala.) finished sixth with a time of 21:05.39. Newcomer Jemarie Alcordo (San Diego, Calif.) was seventh with a time of 21:23.60. Rounding out the remaining finishes were Stephanie DuBose with a time of 23:32.29, Cheris Fletcher with a time of 28:29.67 and Kenika Weaver with a time of 29:04.07.

Southern Miss returns on Sept. 8, when the Lady Eagles host their annual Southern Miss Invitational. The meet changed location from the Vann Hook Golf Course (Lake Sehoy) to Tatum Park.
