Jazzmien Stephens begins her first season as a member of the Southern Miss volleyball coaching staff. Prior to this position, Stephens recently completed her eligibility as part of the Lady Eagle volleyball team. She was a four-year letterwinner, starting the last three seasons. She finished her career ranked in the top 20 in several categories, including kills (720), attack attempts (2,084), attack percentage (.272), block solos (40), block assists (309), total blocks (349), blocks per game (.85), points (1,111.5), games played (409) and matches played (115). In 2003, the Lady Eagles recorded its best year in the history of the program, posting 27 wins and only six losses. The team finished with an 11-3 record in Conference USA, the most ever. Stephens attended Lakewood High School, where she was a four-year letterwinner in volleyball. She received the team's captain award during her senior campaign. She garnered first-team all-league honors. The Lakewood, Calif., native received her bachelor's degree in health education in 2004. She is the daughter of Tamara Buckley and Jeff Stephens Sr. |
