Golden Eagle Tracksters Continue Assault on Record Books
The Lady Eagles are tied for fourth following the first day of competition at the C-USA Championship with five points, behind Marquette with 36 points, South Florida 19, and Memphis with six. Louisville is tied with Southern Miss with five points followed by East Carolina and TCU with three, each, and DePaul with one. Tamara Dayes finished sixth in the hammer with a toss of 161'5", breaking her record of 160'3" set April 20. Janet Rono topped off the day with a school-record time in the 10,000 meters. Rono finished seventh with a time of 37:13.29, knocking almost two minutes off the record set by Keri White at the Alabama Relays. The men's track and field team scored no points in the first day of action. Action continues with the conclusion of the heptathon and decathlon in the morning with preliminaries in the running events starting at 3:45 p.m. Field events begin at 1 p.m. with javelin, long jump, discus, pole vault and high jump for women and shot put and long jump for men.
