Southern Miss Lady Eagle Indoor Tracksters Opened Season at LSU
The Southern Miss women’s indoor track team competed in the LSU Purple Tiger Meet,

Saturday, and several Lady Eagles had a good showing.

Lady Eagles who turned in outstanding performances in the running events began with

sprinter Prudence Reid, who finished 3rd in the finals of the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.41,

after running a 7.59 in the preliminaries. Rose Kurui and Keri White finished 7th and 8th,

respectively, in the 5,000 meters with times of 19:18.80 and 19:19.99. The distance medley

relay team of Karen Tankersley, Oby Amadi, Jessica Crump and Janet Rono finished 3rd with a

time of 12:51.48. Amadi also finished 5th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:20.29.

In the field events, Sabrina Norwood finished fifth in the high jump with a jump of 5'5",

while Tamara Dayes started her indoor season with a 7th place finish in the weight throw with a

throw of 50'5.5".

Southern Miss returns to action, Feb. 9, at the Houston Inddor Meet.
