POPLARVILLE, Miss. -- - The Southern Miss women's tennis team had to move its final home match to the campus of Pearl River Community College because the Tatum Park courts were not playable with too much pollen was on the courts.

The Lady Eagles rolled to a 6-0 win, improving to 16-3 on the season, while Louisiana-Monroe dropped to 7-7.

"We were excited to get the win," Head Coach Randy Rowley said. "Overall, we were disappointed that we didn't get a chance to play at our home courts, and Grace Kammerer had to finish her career not being able to play at home. Today match was designated as Eagle Pride Day, where some of the other athletic teams would get a chance to see us play. That didn't happen."

Southern Miss opened the match, winning the doubles' point. Sherry Price and Brittany Serret defeated Sharon Makhanya and Elodie Burlet, 8-1, at No. 1 doubles. Stephanie Dellocono and Lauren Gutterman followed with a hard-fought win at No. 2 doubles against Marion Lehmann and Lena Satge, 8-6.

ULM did not have enough players to play at No. 3 doubles.

The Lady Eagles carried the momentum into the singles play with Dellocono downing Burlet at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0, giving Southern Miss a 2-0 lead. Blackett then knocked off Makhanya at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-0.
