Feb. 17, 2007
LAS CRUCES, N.M. -
"I was pleased with the way everyone stepped up today," Head Coach Randy Rowley said. "We held out Sherry Price and moved everyone else up and they all played well. We also played some fantastic doubles." The Lady Eagles opened the match winning the doubles point, taking the early 1-0 lead. Sherry Price and Brittany Serret won at No. doubles, 8-2, over Renee Nuccio and Karen Groll. Stephanie Dellocono and Lauren Gutterman posted an 8-1 win over Christina Shelly and Tabatha Knop at No. 2 doubles. Ali Blackett and Grace Kammerer rounded out the doubles with an 8-5 win at No. 3 over Tiffany Knop and Meredith Krystofik. "I was very happy with the win today," Rowley said. "I am still a little concerned with the way we are not finishing our matches. We are winning the first set easily and then in the second set we let them back into the match. We have to stay focused and close out our matches." The Lady Eagles won four of the singles' matches with Ali Blackett winning at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-4, over Groll. Dellocono took No. 3 singles match over Krystofik, 6-1, 6-2. Gutterman won at No. 5 singles' with a 6-0, 6-4, win over Tiffany Knop. Grace Kammerer bounced back to win at No. four singles, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. The Lady Eagles losses came at when Brittany Serret lost to Tabatha Knop, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 1 singles and Natalia Parrado lost at No. 6 singles to Christina Shelly, 6-4, 6-1.
