HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss softball team participated in an instructional softball clinic which featured Olympians Monica Abbott, Lauren Lappin and Vicky Galindo. The clinic was sponsored by the Gulfport Police Athletic League at the Gulfport Sportsplex, Nov. 1.

A three-hour full softball instructional clinic was conducted with Abbott, as well as a few of her Olympic teammates, worked with future softball stars on various softball skills. The instruction also included the disciplines of pitching, hitting, and base running. Eleven members of the Lady Eagles softball helped with instruction.

The USA Softball Team captured the Silver Medal in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China.
