ORLANDO, Fla. -- - The Southern Miss soccer team managed only three shots in losing to UCF in the season finale, 2-0, Friday night. With the win, UCF claimed the regular season title Conference USA title. Goalkeeper Anna Fiser finished the match with 12 saves for Southern Miss (8-10, 4-5), including six saves in the first half that ended in a 0-0 tie at the intermission. UCF scored its first goal in the 72nd minute, when Brianna Schooley hit the right corner after a rebound in front of the box. Becca Thomas was credited with an assist. The Knights scored again five minutes later in the 77th minute, when Danielle Dos Santos took a forward header and broke through the Southern Miss defense and beat the keeper 1-on-1. Thomas received credit for another assist. UCF out-shot Southern Miss 27-3. The Lady Eagles will prepare for the C-USA Tournament, Nov. 7-11, in El Paso, Texas.
