Shawn Meyer enters his first year as an Assistant Coach on Gail Macklin's coaching staff this season. Meyer comes to Southern Miss after serving for four years as a member of the coaching staff at Dowling College. He will work primarily with the goalkeepers.

Meyer was a two year letterwinner at Dowling College from 2000-01. He recorded a perfect record in the goal with eight wins. Over 784 minutes played, Meyer tallied three shut outs and 24 saves. As a senior, Meyer participated in the 2001 NCAA Division II Soccer Championship.

The Bay Shore, NY native has coaching experience with the Long Island Junior Soccer League camps and also spent time teaching soccer to people with disabilities in the Levittown Soccer Club.

Meyer is a 2003 graduate of Dowling College with a bachelor's degree in marketing. He also completed his master's degree in physical education from Adelphi University in 2006.
