Lady Eagles Finish in Fifth Place at Lady Herd Fall Classic

Huntington, W.V. - The Southern Miss women's team shot a final round 326 to finish in fifth-place at the Lady Herd Fall Classic. The tournament is hosted by Marshall University and is played at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course. Sophomore Virginia Espejo finished in a tie for third-place after shooting an 81 Tuesday afternoon for a total of 154 strokes. The freshman has finished in the top ten in all three tournament this year. Junior Samantha Holt closed the tournament with 160 strokes (78-82) to tie for 21st-place along with teammate Heather Golden (77-83). Junior Clara Viladomiu earned a tie for 27th-place (81-82), while senior Kate Burns finished in a tie for 45th (88-81). Radford's Hannah Coles won the individual competition with a four-over par 148. Morgan Reich of Towson finished in second-place with a five-over 149. Espejo, finished in a four-way tie for third-place. Towson won the team tournament, finishing with 620 strokes. Radford came in second place with 624 strokes, followed by Cincinnati with 624 strokes. Austin Peay State finished in fourth with 633 strokes, while Southern Miss came in fifth (635). Ohio (636) earned a sixth-place finish, followed by Morehead State (644), host school Marshall (648), Florida Gulf Coast (657), Cleveland State (670), Ohio Valley (730) and Concord (813). The Lady Eagles return to the links October 20-21 when they head to Thibodaux, La. for the Lady Colonel Invitational hosted by Nicholls State.
