HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss sophomore shot an even-par 71 to lead the Golden Eagles at the Lady Eagle Invitational in Hattiesburg, Miss. The tournament is being played at Canebrake Country Club. Holt is tied with Jackson State's Shasta Averyhardt at even par to lead the individual competition. Angela Drane of Louisiana-Monroe and Marshall's Kristina Garrett are tied for third at three-over par (74). Freshman Virginia Espejo shot a five-over 76 to sit in eighth place. Jennifer Judge shot a 78 to place 14th. Sophomores Rebecka Nilsson and Clara Viladomiu, both playing as individuals, are tied for 15th and 19th place, respectively. Senior Jennifer Bodemann is tied for 28th-place after shooting an 83. Junior Heather Golden and senior Helena Backlund, playing as an individual, each shot an 85 to tie for 28th-place. Junior Kate Burns (86) and sophomore Ashley Joubert (94), both playing as individuals, rounded out play for Southern Miss by finishing in a tie for 30th and 44th place, respectively. The Lady Eagles are leading the team competition with a first round score of 308, one shot ahead of Marshall (309). Louisiana-Monroe is in third place with 314 strokes. Birmingham-Southern shot 315 strokes to sit in fourth place. Texas-Pan American is in fifth place with 319 strokes, followed by Jackson State (324), West Florida (325) and Kentucky Wesleyan (353). Southern Miss closes the tournament tomorrow with the final 18. Play begins with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. (CT).
