Golden Eagle Indoor Track and Field Season Begins

Head Coach Wayne Williams begins his eighth season at Southern Miss

HATTIESBURG, Miss.  -- The Southern Miss men's and women's track and field teams will kick off the 2005 Indoor Season this Saturday at the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge, La.

Wayne Williams is entering his eighth year as head men's and women’s track and field coach. He is joined this season by assistant coaches, Greg Stringer will coach the jumpers and Kevin Stephen will head up the throwers.  Deb Osteen will coach the distance runners.

The Golden Eagles return 36 performers from last year’s squad that placed seventh in the men’s Conference USA Indoor Championship and 12^th in the women’s.

Southern Miss will compete in six meeting during the season, including the C-USA Indoor Championship meet on Feb. 25-26 in Houston, Texas. The C-USA Outdoor Championship meet is scheduled for May 12-14 also in Houston.
