Men's Tennis Defeats Indiana State, 4-3

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Domagoj Anic and Callen Fraychineaud defeated Jon Sigurdsson and Mpiloenhle Migogo, 8-6, in the No. 2 spot to give Southern Miss the doubles point and put the Golden Eagles above Indiana State 4-3, today, at the Hattiesburg Racquet Club.

"I'm very pleased with the way the guys played today, especially at No. 2 and 3 doubles," Southern Miss Head Coach Teddy Viator said. "We've lost several matches 4-3 because we didn't earn the doubles point. We played a good team, and I'm proud of our guys."

Diego and Oscar Machuca added another doubles win for Southern Miss, defeating Bruno Echer and Michael Wenham, 8-2. Playing No. 1 doubles for Southern Miss was Strate Krestski and Will Thames, who were defeated by Rishi Behl and Anton Tsymbalov, 8-3.

The two teams split the singles matches, with Indiana State winning No. 1, 2 and 3 and Southern Miss winning No. 4, 5 and 6.

Andrew Poole played No. 1 singles for the Golden Eagles, losing to Tsymbalov, 6-2, 6-1, while Anic played No. 2 singles, losing to Behl, 6-2, 7-6. In the No. 3 spot, Diego Machuca was defeated by Migogo, 6-3, 6-1.

Oscar Machuca represented Southern Miss at the No. 4 singles spot, defeating Echer 6-0, 7-6, while Strate Krestski defeated Sigurdsson in the No. 5 spot, 7-5, 6-3. Markus Wessinghage dominated Blake Douglas, 6-2, 6-2, in the final spot.

Southern Miss returns to action on Monday, March 12, as they take on LeTourneau at 3 p.m. in Mobile, Ala.
