Men's Tennis Team Cruises To 7-0 Win over LeTourneau University

MOBILE, Ala. -- - The men's tennis team evened its record at 6-6, posting a 7-0 win over LeTourneau University Monday afternoon at Mobile University Tennis Courts.

"We are pleased to get to .500 on the season and look forward to playing at home on Sunday at Florida A&M," Head Coach Teddy Viator said.

Southern Miss opened the match earning the doubles' point, posting wins at all three of the doubles' matches. Andrew Poole and Markus Wessinghage did not give up a point in winning at No. 1 doubles, 8-0, over Paul Haney and Randal Namanny (LU). Wren Hood and Strate Krstevski followed up with an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles against Jeremy Martinez and Mark Taylor (LU).

The Golden Eagles dominated the singles' play, not dropping a single set and giving up a total of 13 points in the singles' competition. Krstevski downed Wade Sinard at no. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0, followed by Callen Fraychineaud's win at No. 2 singles over Haney (LU), 6-1, 6-0. Wessinghage defeated Martinez (LU) in straight sets at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Wren Hood knocked off Namanny (LU), 6-1, 6-1, at No. 5 singles.

Poole outlasted Taylor (LU), 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1 singles.

Southern Miss returns to action on Tuesday when the Eagles play Topsl Club in Sandestin, Fla., at 5 p.m.
