Men's Tennis Team Records Two Wins at the Clemson Invitational



Domagoj Anic posts two wins in singles and one in doubles

CLEMSON, S.C. -- - The Southern Miss men's tennis team opened play at the Clemson Invitational, recording two wins with a 4-3 win over Charleston Southern and followed with a 6-0 win over Erskine College in an evening match.

"This was a good win for us today," Head Coach Teddy Viator Said. "We had several players play well today and if we continue to play well, I believe we have a shot at winning against Clemson tomorrow. We also played well in doubles"

Southern Miss took the doubles' point, winning at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles by identical scores of 8-4. Domagoj Anic and Callen Fraychineaud defeated Steven Dean and Quentin Guichard at No. 2, while Diego Machuca and Strate Krstevski defeated Lee Schutte and Murat Atilla.

Oscar Machuca and Markus Wessinghage lost to Chris Peek and Jonathan Dean, 8-4.

The Golden Eagles won three of the four singles. Anic defeated Peek, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 2 singles, while Diego Machuca defeated Guichard and Wessinghage clinched the match at No. 5 singles with his 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 win over Schutte.

The Golden Eagles did not play doubles against Erskine. Southern Miss swept the singles competition.
