HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Kyle Ramey shot a final round 74 and Southern Miss posted a team score of 859 to finish in second place at the Sam H. Hall Intercollegiate, played at Canebrake Country Club. Ramey, a senior from Paducah, Ky., finished in fourth place with a final score of 209, six strokes behind individual champion David McKendrick of Louisiana-Monroe. Wes Carter shot a final round of 73 for a three-round total of 216 to finish in a tie for tenth. Derek Plucienski, playing as an individual, shot a two-over 73 to finish at 217, which put him in a 12th-place tie. Paul Apyan and Tyler Sparks are tied for 19th-place. Apyan shot a 75 and Sparks tallied a 73 to finish with a 218 total. Alex Park posted a final round 75 for a six-over 219 to tie for 24th-place, while Rocky Cleland and Rob Hudson wrapped up the scoring for the Golden Eagles. Cleland shot a 74, and Hudson closed with an 80 for an eight-over 221 and a 29th-place tie. UAB (858) finished one stroke ahead of Southern Miss (859) to win the tournament. St. John's (865) finished third, while Louisiana-Monroe (866) earned a fourth-place finish. Jacksonville State (872) finished fifth, followed by New Orleans (877), Rhode Island (878), Louisiana Tech (879), Kennesaw State (880), Troy (889) and Illinois State (893).
The tournament ends the fall portion of Southern Miss' 2007-08 schedule. They begin the spring slate in Orlando, Fla. at the Rio Pinar Invitational, February 25-26. |
