Ruston, La. - The Southern Miss men's golf team closed the Squire Creek Invitational in seventh place. The tournament was hosted by Louisiana Tech University and was played at Squire Creek Country Club.

Redshirt junior Paul Apyan and redshirt freshman Freddie Janneck tied for 11th-place at three-under par. Apyan fired a final round one-under 71, while Janneck shot an even-par 72. Senior Rocky Cleland shot an even-par 72 to a tie for 39th-place. Junior Tyler Sparks tied for 47th-place after shooting a final round 75, and junior Wes Carter tied for 57th with a 77.

Nevada's Taylor Coffman won the team competition, finishing nine-under par. Louisiana Tech's Matthew Harvey and Joe David of Ole Miss tied for second-place at eight-under.

New Orleans won the team competition, defeating LSU in a playoff. Ole Miss took third-place at eight-under par. Louisville shot five-under to finish in fourth. Louisiana-Lafayette and Nevada finished two-under to tie for fifth. Southern Miss took seventh-place, shooting one-under par. Middle Tennessee State finished in eighth-place at even-par.

Southeastern Louisiana finished at two-over par for ninth-place, followed by Arkansas State and Arkansas-Little Rock at ten-over, host school Louisiana Tech (+11), UT-Arlington (+15), Nebraska (+18), South Alabama (+25) and Louisiana-Monroe (+42).

Southern Miss closes out its fall portion of the 2008-09 schedule when it hosts the Sam H. Hall Intercollegiate, October 27-28 at Hattiesburg Country Club.
