Murfreesboro, Tenn. - Southern Miss sophomore West Carter shot a one-under par 141 over the first two rounds to lead the Golden Eagles, who sit in second place at the Middle Tennessee/Aldila Intercollegiate, being played at the Old Fort Golf Course.

Carter had rounds of 71 and 70 to head into the final round in second place.

Junior Rocky Cleland is in a tie for fifth place after turning in rounds of 73 and 71 for an even-par 144.

Redshirt sophomore Paul Apyan is tied for 12th-place, shooting back-to-back 73's for a two round total of 146. Sophomore Alex Park (74-78) shot a 152 to finish in 30th-place tie. Senior Kyle Ramey rounded out play for the Golden Eagles, shooting a 155 (77-78) to finish in a tie for 46th-place.

Host school Middle Tennessee State leads the team scoring with a five-over par 581. Southern Miss is two strokes back with 583 strokes while Arkansas-Little Rock is in third with 584 strokes. Austin Peay is in fourth place at 587 strokes, and Texas State is in fifth with 592 strokes.

Troy is in sixth place with 593 strokes and North Texas is in seventh with 596. Western Kentucky is in eighth with 601 strokes, followed by Jacksonville State (608), Oakland (612) and Connecticut (626).

Austin Peay's Grant Leaver leads the individual competition, as he shot a four-under 140. Carter is in second with 141 strokes and Anthony Broussard of North Texas shot a 142 to place in third.

The tournament closes Tuesday morning with the final 18. Play begins at 8:00 a.m. with a shotgun start from the No. 1 and No. 10 holes.
