NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Southern Miss football team went through its final practice prior to the 2008 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, Friday, on the Tulane University practice fields.

The 90-minute workout in shoulder pads and shorts saw the Golden Eagles put in their final touches on their game plan for Sunday night's game against Sun Belt Champion, Troy. Game time is slated for 7:15 p.m. at the Louisiana Superdome.

"We were able to polish our game plan today, both on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball," said first-year coach Larry Fedora.

The Golden Eagles also spent a good portion of time with special teams work.

Southern Miss will go through one more walkthrough, Saturday afternoon, in its final preparations for the 8-4 Trojans.

The R+L New Orleans Bowl marks the seven consecutive bowl appearance for the Golden Eagles and 11th in the last 12 seasons.

Tickets for the game are still available at $40 for sidelines and $20 for students.

Starting today, Southern Miss will open its ticket office in New Orleans at the Hilton Riverside (2 Poydras St.) in the Prince of Wales Room for ticket sales and will call pickup. The phone number for the ticket office is 504-586-4661. Students tickets must be bought in person during the office hours this weekend.
