R.L. Horton Named CollegeHoops.net High-Major All-Freshman Second Team

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss freshman R.L. Horton was named CollegeHoops.net High Major All-Freshman Second Team in a vote by staff writers, announced today. It is the second straight season the Golden Eagles placed a member on the team. Jeremy Wise was named to the first team last year, as well as being named the High Major Freshman of the Year. Horton was second on the team with 11.9 points. He finished the season fourth on the freshman scoring list with 353 points. The Jackson, Miss. native started the last 31 games after coming off the bench in the first two, and has scored in double-figures in 19 of 33 games. He has also scored 20-plus points in five games, including a season-high 25 against Spring Hill on December 8. Creighton's P'Allen Stinnett was named the CollegeHoops.net High Major Freshman of the Year. Joining him on the first team were Armon Johnson of Nevada, Hofstra's Charles Jenkins, Austin Daye of Gonzaga and New Mexico State's Herb Pope. Joining Horton on the second team is Dayton's Chris Wright, Marshall's Tirrell Baines, Billy White of Sand Diego State and Lavoy Allen of Temple.
