HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss sophomore Jeremy Wise earned CollegeHoops.net High Major Honorable Mention All-American honors in a vote by staff writers, announced today.

Wise led the Golden Eagles this season with 18.7 points and 4.2 assists, en route to placing second on the sophomore scoring list with 617 points. He is also the first Golden Eagle to record 500 points in back-to-back seasons since Clarence Weatherspoon from 1989 to 1992.

On February 20 against SMU, Wise became the second fastest player in Southern Miss history to reach 1,000 career points.

The Jackson, Miss. native was the only player to start all 33 games for the Golden Eagles this season, and scored in double-figures in 31 of 33 games, including the last 15. The All-Conference USA performer also scored 20-plus points in 14 games, including a career-high 33 at Alabama on November 23.

Massachusetts' Gary Forbes was named the CollegeHoops.net High Major Player of the Year. Joining him on the first team were Drew Lavender of Xavier, UAB's Robert Vaden, Reggie Larry of Boise State and BYU's Trent Plaisted.

The second team consisted of VCU's Eric Maynor, Drake's Adam Emmenecker, Jaycee Carroll of Utah State, George Mason's Will Thomas and Will Daniels of Rhode Island.

On the third team was Jeremy Pargo of Gonzaga, Robert McKiver of Houston, Temple's Dionte Christmas, J.R. Giddens of New Mexico and Pat Calathes of St. Joseph's.

The fourth team included Brian Roberts of Dayton, Josh Young of Drake, UTEP's Stefon Jackson, BYU's Lee Cummard and Josh Duncan of Xavier.

Joining Wise on the Honorable Mention squad was Wink Adams (UNLV), Antoine Agudio (Hofstra), Matt Bouldin (Gonzaga), Bryant Dunston (Fordham), Osiris Eldridge (Illinois State), Randal Falker (Southern Illinois), Leemire Goldwire (Charlotte), Justin Hawkins (New Mexico State), Marcelus Kemp (Nevada) and Jermaine Taylor (Central Florida).
