In his first season with Golden Eagle basketball, Kevin McShan returns to his alma mater after stops at a trio of institutions including a one-year stint at Tulane last year.

McShan was the trainer for the Green Wave basketball team and helped oversee the training operations for the school in College Station, Texas, after the school was displaced due to Hurricane Katrina.

Prior to his appointment at Tulane, McShan served as assistant athletic trainer for a year at Jacksonville (Ala.) State where he handled the athletic training needs of the football and men's basketball programs. That year, the Gamecock football program won the Ohio Valley Conference title and advanced to the NCAA Division I-AA Playoffs.

Before going to JSU, McShan spent two years as a graduate assistant at the University of North Texas where he worked with the football team - which won back-to-back Sun Belt crowns and captured the 2002 New Orleans Bowl. He held additional duties with the men's and women's track and field program.

The 2001 Southern Miss graduate served as a student assistant in the athletic training office from 1998-2001.

A native of Chalmette, La., McShan earned his bachelor's degree in sports medicine from Southern Miss in May of 2001 and completed his master'sdegree in kinesiology in May of 2004. McShan is a National Certified Athletic Trainer and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and Southeast Athletic Trainers Association. The 27-year-old is engaged to Melissa Behnke of Tomball, Texas.
